Lodge-based wild horse tracking trip itinerary
On your lodge based wild horse tracking trip in British Columbia, arrive at the lodge and enjoy lunch in our historic lodge. Then drive out in our wild horse tracking truck to look for wild horses in the wild hay meadows, prepare for the rest of the trip and review the trip itinerary with your guides.
Next morning ride out again in the wild horse tracking truck, scouting for wild horses at prime spots along the way. Find fresh wild horse tracks in the snow and follow them to hone your tracking skills.
Early morning and evening are the best times to see wild horses so head out at sunrise and sunset by foot or truck to scout for wild horses and look out for mule deer, moose, wolf, cougar, lynx, bobcat and other animals in their natural habitat.
Learn about wild horses’ band mentality, lifestyle and their behaviours. Record every animal you see in our wildlife sightings form to contribute to habitat and population management. Collect data along the way such as wild horse hair from rub trees for DNA analysis.
