Living and working close to nature facilitates endless opportunities to develop your personal and professional skills. All require commitment, responsibility and a positive attitude. You will connect deeply to nature every day as you live and work in the wilderness. We recognize our responsibility to take care of the environment we benefit from, so nature conservation will be a vital part of everything you do. Our Six Principles of Personal Development, Nature Connection, Nature Conservation, Self-Sufficiency, Empowerment and Consciousness and Awareness means every volunteering opportunity promises to be truly transformational, as long as you are mentally ready to commit to the experience. Find out more on the Chilcotin Ark Institute’s website where you can see all the different wilderness volunteering opportunities we offer. Information is also found on Trails to Empowerment’s website.
The Chilcotin Ark Institute’s wilderness volunteering opportunities run year round with a minimum stay of two months, although all volunteers are required to complete a horse use and wilderness skills training program on arrival, so need to start May-August. If you are joining us from outside Canada, check the Government of Canada website to find out what visa you need depending on your home country.
